Master Chen recently explained meditation as being the perfect marriage between the body and the spirit. It's a romance. We have to romance our spirit. He said the spirit is like the man and the body is like the woman and you have to create such a healthy, nurturing and loving environment in your body in order to convince your spirit to stay with you and never stray. So what do we need to do? We need to prove to our spirit that we will be loyal, too, and not just get distracted by any random thought, problem or desire that crosses our path. It's not enough to sit and "meditate" if we aren't being present in our bodies to invite our spirit to join us, our spirit won't want to come to a party in which nobody is actually home. Who would want to come home to an empty house?
